In the Philippines, through the Archdiocese of Manila, the Holy See has financed a two-year project that allows 1,000 young survivors of cyclone Yolanda to complete their university studies.

The passage of cyclone Yolanda in the Philippine archipelago in November 2013 has caused over 7 thousand dead and missing and over 30 thousand injured.

According to the Philippine authorities, the total number of families affected by the disaster was 3 424 000 with more than 16 million people involved; the houses damaged were about 1,140,000, of which 551 thousand were completely destroyed.
