Latin America and Caribbean: Populorum Progressio finances 132 projects in 23 countries

The Board of Directors of the Populorum Progressio Foundation - entrusted to the Dicastery for the Service of Integral Human Development - held, this June 22 and 23, virtually its annual meeting corresponding to the year 2021. 

The Council approved 104 projects for integral human development and 28 for humanitarian aid through the Family Food Basket Program, for a total of 132 projects, from 23 countries of the region, for an amount of US $ 2,528,185.

This Basket Program responds to the Holy Father's desire to involve the Foundation in the work of helping the local Churches through the Vatican COVID-19 Commission.

Given the magnitude of the needs, all these helps pretend to be a gesture of the Pope's charity and solidarity of the Church, as well as an encouragement and call to all Christians and people of good will to.
